Having asked Dave about life with Megan he shared the following:
"Megan was a 10, unbelievable drives for hunt, retrieve and play. A go-go-go girl whom 'slow down' was not in her vocabulary.
On searches we had to make her stop and rest else she would whine and try to continue without you.
I once ran a practice problem using dual dogs, Megan picked up the subject 300-400 feet sooner than the other GSD did.
She was definitely an outdoor girl. Megan would demand to go outside and lay in the yard as the snow fell heavily, covering her like an Alaskan sled dog.
Ball crazy, Megan would toss a Jolly ball around the yard, pushing it with her nose and vocalizing the whole time.
We usually had to take it from her so the neighbors would not complain of the howling.
Even retired, she still jumped at the opportunity to show up the youngsters on HRD problems in the yard.
Hitting the subtle scent of the source, homing in on the target, a rapid sit and a "give me my reward" look.
She even gave me a look of disgust when I attempted to present a reward of a lower value item than she was accustomed to.
A trooper till the end, she collapsed on her regular morning walk as we surveyed our property on the morning of Feb 17, 2012
She is sorely missed."
